rename files and update tags in html files at same time

I'm pretty sure I've read many times that AR does not modify files, only file names.

But I'm wondering, is there a "batch" way to go through html files, find the files referenced in the <img src="path_to_file">, put them in the AR list, rename them using all desired AR methods, and then modify the filename in the <img> tag? If not within AR, is anybody aware of a tool that would be good for this?
