BUG: #Items in status bar not always reset

The #Items in the bottom left of the status bar is not always reset.
If the "list" of files has been populated, the #Items is updated to reflect that change.
But if you choose "Clear List" from the "List" drop-down, #Items is not reset to zero - even though the list is empty.
I am using version 3.85.
