Long time to load lists of video files into AR

It seems like this started around version 3.57. If I drop a large number of video files (150+ mov files in this case) onto AR it takes a very long time to finish importing the list. I can click cancel and the list will be loaded, so assume the extra time is for digging into the files for metadata.

I don't need metadata, I just need to batch rename the files. Is there a way to turn this feature off?
