I am using Advanced Renamer to standardise the whole or my massive drum machine sample library.
I have had a lot of luck building a list of words that all need to be shortened to the same initials, for instance Snare . Snaredrum, Snare Drum = SD Bass Drum, Kick, Kick Drum = BD etc however, I have hit upon instances where , due toa lack of numbering in initial files, I end up with two files that would both output the same file name. is there a way in which I can set it up so IF one or more files would end up with an EQUAL file name, then a sequential number is added to differentiate between the two conflicting files? i.e if output would have been SD SD HHO HHC SD BD CY BD if would turn out as SD SD1 HHO HHC SD2 BD CY BD1 or better still SD1 SD2 HHO HHC SD3 BD1 CY BD2 obviously, due to the mixed nature of my samples, I cant just add an incremental number to all files )plus I try to keep file names as short as possible. thanks so much for any help you can give. Yes, that should work for him in this situation. However, keep in mind that the collision rule will not work if a file with the extension already exists. In other words if you've already run AdvancedRenamer at one time and already have a SD and SD1, running it again will not work. You'll get error that those file already exist! (see post http://www.advancedrenamer.com/forum_thread?for um_id=1718) AdvancedRenamer should attempt to use the next sequence number to rename the file until it can be renamed. I hope to see this in a future version of this great application! No other has the capabilities as this one. Best Regards, Nelson |
