Hi Kim, yet ive downloaded AREN v3.02 and tried to rename some folders and subfolders starting with "610 - " without quotes. Ive used only 1 renaming method and it was replace for discarding that number, spaces and that hyphen standing in front of every folder name but program said errors. So i discarded adding subfolders and worked with current folders, it said error again. Is there a problem with renaming folders with this version (Im using Turkish Translate Version)

Hi Atilla

I see there is a general problem with adding folders to the list properly. I have uploaded a version 3.03 a couple of minutes ago with a fix regarding adding folders. I am not sure if this fix is related to your problem. Try it out, and if it is still not working as intended I need more information, like what error message your get (in English unfortunately).

Hello Kim, ive downloaded and installed 3.0.3 version a few min ago and tried to make same operation. It was succesful at first try but then add folders again and tried to rename again program said "Batch processing has ended with 3 errors" Ive looked up for error details it says ErrorCode 101 Unknown Error. Its also impossible while renaming folders including subfolders.

I have not been able to reproduce the problem. Can you give me more details about the problem and what you do?

For the life of me I cannot get AR 3.04 to rename folders!!

Admittedly, I have a lot to throw at it, but so far I haven't found a single rename tool that will simply do one thing -- replace "_" with " " in just the folder name, no matter how deep it is.

I tried adding a folder with directories up to 5 levels deep, chose the Folder tab, and it showed me I had 712 directories. I told it to begin the batch and it came back with 0 successful, 712 errors.

ARGH! And of all the renamers I've tried, yours has the nicest interface, and is the easiest to understand, and one of the very few that can focus *JUST* on directories / folders.

Any clues?

I have heard about that problem before but have not been able to reproduce it. I don't know what should cause all the folders to fail.
I know that if you add the following...

\folder1
\folder1\sub1
\folder1\sub2

.. the first will rename OK but the rest will fail. That is because when the first gets renamed the sub1 and sub2 sub folders are no longer located in folder1.

I sorry, I know its a old topic but I have the same problem but I think I know what the problem is.

Say the following exists:

\folder name
\folder name\sub name\sub sub name\sub sub sub name 1\
\folder name\sub name\sub sub name\sub sub sub name 2\
\folder name\sub name\sub sub name\sub sub sub name 3\

I run a batch to remove spaces and insert a underscore,
what happens is:

1) Parent folders are ignored and not batched (seems to b part of code logic because its consistent)
example, sub_sub_sub_name_1 to 3 are renamed correctly but all folders above that specific thread are ignored.

2) These show up as errors. ( so do folder names that don't require changes but I at least understand that although its a false negative in my opinion)

I think this would work as expected if parent folders that require the changes could be edited
and if files/folders that don't require editing not be showcased as a error thus creating the impression that its just failing horribly ;)

hope this thread will be attended to ..

*update* if i cut the bottom level folders out the structure the parent folder above it is than attended to, so it is that :/ any chance this could be fixed, changed or improved ?
