Could you please add an option to turn OFF the "Analying Files" feature? I often add a large number of media files, but NEVER use the renaming features that use any of the media's internal data, so this step really slows things a lot unnecessarily. It would be nice if that could be turned off for users who don't need this feature.

thanks
TRJB

Yes please, I would also find this option useful too, for exactly the same reason.

Please add this option. I frequently rename large numbers of files from on a network share and only ever use the file name, location and extension in my script.

I know I can press the cancel button but this "feature" is getting in my way.

Thanks

+1 for me. Been using Advanced Renamer for years and this is actually pretty much the only thing I don't like about it.

Advanced Renamer is a fantastic product but I personally find this issue annoying enough that its actually caused me to look for alternatives. Haven't found anything that matches it yet unfortunately - especially the TV show renaming feature which I use all the time.

If you are adding image files, make sure you haven't enabled any image based columns. If you don't use any features based on image data it won't try and fetch it from the files. But if you turn on a column like Date Taken or Dimensions, it will fetch all image data for all files.

I'm adding video files. I don't have any of these columns enabled. Just default. It still happens. Freezes the whole app for a time. Wish there was this option too.

Is +1000 a valid response? Really, really, really wish this feature existed - complete PITA having to wait every time to do a simple rename.

When working with TV shows, it even double analyzes files - once when you add the files and a second time when you use the Import-->TV Show feature. Sigh.

A must-have feature to be able to turn off analysis.

for whatever reason, something changed in the later updated of AR. it used to be able to rename a thousand images rather quickly but now it takes forever to add files. what has changed?? im going to revert to an old version that works because the new releases are just horrible.

I am very interested in knowing if you can measure a significant change from a previous version to the current. I am not aware of any change that would impact this.

Unless you are adding files from a network attached device or a slow usb device, I cannot see how this action should be so slow that it poses a problem. Unless you are using image or video tags, the analysis process is more or less only checking if the file is still there. Unfortunately checking for file existence over a network in Windows, is very slow.
