Hello, I have read all the help but my level of understanding failed in finding a solution.
Here is what I need to do: 1. When renaming files, I add a whole directory to my list. From different folders this list contains docs, pdfs, spreadsheets and documents with a ~ sign in front (that can be either docs, pdfs or spreadsheets). I need to add a filter to load only PDFs without tilde sign (and disregards the rest) 2. Once my list is cleaned up, I need to rename each file with the first 4 characters from the folder they belong. PS: My directory would look like this: LEVEL 1 - this is may main folder and I pick this when "Add / DIRECTORIES" Main folder let's call it Europe Europe has o one subfolder: Italy In the subfolder Italy, I have two PDFs: Rome and Milan I want Rome to be renamed Ital Rome and Ital Milan. Then same for the rest.... I hope I am not too hilarious for this forum. Thanks for your time |

If I understand you correctly you can use the <Dirname> tag in the New Name method to add the parent folder name to the filenames. Use a pattern like this: <Dirname> <Name> These two pages in the user guide refers to this approach: https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/metho d_newname https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/tags_ default |
