I wanted to edit an .aren file using sed as part of batch operation that effectively passes parameters into the .aren by stream editing it.
I found the .aren is saved by AR in DBCS, but it seems that if I convert it to UTF-8, AR happily opens it. My tests with sed editing the UTF-8 file to provide a modified .aren for a batch AR seems to work.
I hope it continues to work.
