is there a way to tell the programme that the word separator is a phrase, such as " - " as opposed to only one dash or one space?

The short answer is no. But maybe you don't need to change the word separator. Maybe there is some other way accomplish your desired result. What problem are you trying to solve?

i got my wav files named "artist - year - album - track - title" and want to rename them changing the folder at the same time. the final result shall be artist\year+album\track+title.wav

obviously the different artists' names are of different length as are album titles etc. however the "words" or entries are all separated by " - " so i was able to tell advancedrenamer how to call the files - i used the rename option and turned "(.*) - (.*) - (.*) - (.*) - (.*)" into "\4+\5"

i wanted to use the word replacement method to create the folder names, my problem is, that " - " is not accepted as a word separator, so either there are wrong entries separated or i end up with spaces in the folders' names, which leads to errors and doesn't work properly.

i was thinking about renaming all the files and turning " - " into "-", however this way i'm messing up my titles sinces some of them contain dashes originally without spaces, but this will be changed after renaming them as above mentioned... and artists' names containing dashes will be causing errors too...
