Dear all,
I hope you can help me with following task. I have several video-files on my PC and I want to delete some part of the filenames. OLD names: Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.backdrop.jpg Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi.cuts 96 Hours - 94min 2012.mp4 96 Hours - 94min 2012.jpg 96 Hours - 94min 2012.mp4.cuts I want to delete the whole part with " - ??min ????" and " - ???min ????". NEW names: Forrest Gump.avi Forrest Gump.backdrop.jpg Forrest Gump.avi.cuts 96 Hours.mp4 96 Hours.jpg 96 Hours.mp4.cuts Thanks a lot in advance! Kind regards, Hansi |

FROM: Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi TO: Forrest Gump.avi RULE: Remove everything after first "Space-Hyphen". Try Replace (https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/metho d_replace) Find: (.+) -.+ Replace: \1 [x] Use regular expressions |

Dear Stefan, thanks a lot for your help. Problem with your suggestion is, that I loose part of the extension which I need. Is it possible to delete only until first dot? OLD names: Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.backdrop.jpg Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi.cuts I want to delete the whole part with " - ??min ????" and " - ???min ????". NEW names: Forrest Gump.avi Forrest Gump.backdrop.jpg --> BUT I get: Forrest Gump.jpg --> also ".backdrop" is deleted Forrest Gump.avi.cuts --> BUT I get: Forrest Gump.cuts --> also ".avi" is deleted THANKS!!! ;-) Kind regards, Hansi |

Upps, you're right, I missed that detail. FROM: Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.backdrop.jpg Forrest Gump - 136min 2001.avi.cuts 96 Hours - 94min 2012.mp4 96 Hours - 94min 2012.jpg 96 Hours - 94min 2012.mp4.cuts TO: 96 Hours.jpg 96 Hours.mp4 96 Hours.mp4.cuts Forrest Gump.avi Forrest Gump.avi.cuts Forrest Gump.backdrop.jpg RULE: Remove everything after first "Space-Hyphen", but keep last part after dot too. Try Replace (https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/metho d_replace) Find: (.+) - [^.]+ Replace: \1 Apply to [Name ] [x] Use regular expressions I don't know why this works, it should not. Rather this should work by following the regex rules: Find: (.+) - [^.]+(.+) Replace: \1\2 Apply to [Name ] [x] Use regular expressions Anyway, HTH? |
