How do I do this?

I have a large collection of Mps3s that are correctly tagged (using MP3tag) using Artist/Album/Track Number and Genre
I want to tidy up the folder names as they are a mess. Is there a way to batch rename all my folders using the id3 tag ie:
Carole King - Tapestry
Rammstein - Volkerball
etc etc

As the folder itself have no ID3 tag, .... from where should the name come from?

As a big user of MP3Tag, I think your best bet is to do that from within MP3Tag itself.

I agree with Mark that MP3Tag is one tool that can do this sort of thing, but I suspect that it may also be possible to do with ARen (if not now then in some future version), since it is capable of displaying the MP3 tag values when I select any of my MP3 files (tested with ARen v3.82). As I understand it the tags are extracted by the separate tool program "ExifTool" that is included with ARen and invoked by it, when selecting compatible files in the ARen file list.

Since ARen is already capable of displaying the tag strings it should also be possible to make it expand those strings in replacement string expressions, using some syntax extension for the regular expression parser.

I'm not sure if any such feature is already implemented in the current ARen version,
but if not then I suggest that the author should implement it in some future version.

I played with this and quickly came to the conclusion that without further development, playing with Exif and folders combined would be difficult.

The Exif side of things is not 100% integrated (Kim, the author has expressed some development plans) and working with nested folders causes errors (as if AR is not releasing its hold on a parent folder when trying to rename the child).
