Disordered items when dragging onto the program

Hello!

I use Advanced Renamer to organize my music collection. With the new update every time I drag a list of items, the list would always start with item 3. For example I would have:

Song - 01
Song - 02
Song - 03
Song - 04
Song - 05

and when I drag it into the program it would be:

Song - 03
Song - 04
Song - 05
Song - 01
Song - 02

Can anyone please help me. I haven't encountered this problem with the previous version so I've downgraded for now. Any help would be appreciated :)

I'm not sure why this happens, but it's just the way it is with v3.82. I'm sure Kim, the author, could explain, but my observations are:

* If I drag in those 5 names files into AR from Windows Explorer (where they are sorted correctly), they appear "non-sorted", and repeating the process may give a different "non-sorted" order.

The process here is to click the "Filename" column header, maybe more than once, to set the order as required.

* If I use a 3rd party program (FileLocator Pro, in my case), it will find the files and, by default, sort them. If I drag them in to AR, they will appear sorted.

* If I select the files via AR's Folder Panel, they appear sorted in that pane, and when dragged into the main AR window, they will be sorted the same way.

While it might not be optimum, the sort work-arounds are simple, and I would recommend you "upgrade" AR to get the benefits of the latest version.

Thanks Mark, I've finally located the source of the problem last night. It seems whatever item I drag first with the cursor would always be the first one on the AR list. So for example if I drag from a list:

Song - 01
Song - 02
Song - 03
Song - 04
Song - 05

I usually drag it from the third item out of habit so it usually becomes:

Song - 03
Song - 04
Song - 05
Song - 01
Song - 02

Turns out I should always cursor drag with the first item. Thanks for your suggestion.

I'm not sure what you mean, actually.

If I have a list of files in Windows Explorer, sorted, then select them all ..... I drag them as a group, and it doesn't matter where my "cursor" is ....

But I'm glad it works for you! :)

Hello,

I have noticed the same problem recently.
It started with one of the latest updates.
Not sure if it is linked with Advanced Renamer or Windows 10.

In fact, when dragging files, it insert them like this :
File n-3
File n-2
File n-1
File 1
File 2

File n-4

This really looks like a bug to me.
Of course, clicking twice on the Filename column header is a workaround, but it takes two extra clicks :-)

I eventually did some more testing today :
- Reinstalled 3.78, tried again, all is fine;
- Reinstalled 3.79, tried again, files are not ordered any more;
- Reinstalled 3.82, tried again, files still not ordered properly.

So this looks like a regression introduced in version 3.79.

Any chance that this gets looked at ?

Thanks in advance.

Stéphane

PS I have printscreens to demonstrate this, but do not know if it is possible to post them on this forum...

Sorry for my last post, and the whole thread actually, but I just realised checking the change log of version 3.79 that this might be "on purpose" :

+ Files are no longer sorted alphabetically when dragged from Windows Explorer

Any chance that this could be made into an option ? That would be really great !

Thanks in advance,

Stéphane
