Hi,

I lost all of my image metadata when transferring to my new galaxy s9 and want to fix it.

So i used advanced renamer and used the image name i.e. IMG-20180707-WA001.jpg to add the created time and this works with files on my pc (i used a few files first as a sample).

The problem is the minute that i try to copy them to my phone it changes the created time again.

I can't seem to add directories that are on my phone to advanced renamer (the phone is visible and the folders visible but the files dont add).

I also tried to add the image files individually but it copies it to a directory in Advanced renamer that i would then hve to copy back over
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just tried this too, and I also don't get a date from my test images. Don't know why. But..

You can try to use the ExifTool date. When you select one of the images in the list, there is some information at the bottom, and the button "ExifTool...". That opens a list with "extra"-Tags. From there try to copy the <ExifTool:FileCreateDate> to your add method.
Maybe thats enough?

Hi domi

I am not even able to copy the images in question to advanced renamed. They aren't even allowed to be added.

Is there any work around or am I misunderstanding something you might have said before. Thank you

Oh, I meant you must have the files on your PC. I think this is a Windows (or driver) restriction. I also can't edit files directly on my smartphone or tablet. I have to copy them first.

And yes, the "file last access date" changes then. But copying the files will not change the "date created".
