Calling an outside EXE From inside a script?

Is it possible to call an outside EXE from inside a script? I'm using Advanced Renamer to fix some image names which I then use as Folder Icons. But the Images are jpegs. I was wondering if its possible to use a script to call an external exe (via command prompt), that will convert the JPG to an Icon? (I wrote a simple C# tool to convert a jpg to an icon, and then use that icon as the folders Graphic, but it only works on one file at a time, if I could include it in the Renaming process it would make things a lot easier).

EG:
AR -> Rename Jpg in folder1 -> Run Script that calls external exe with the Renamed File as Parameter -> Rename JPG in folder2... so on
