Batch Renaming Based on File Creation Time
Hi everyone, I’m trying to rename a large number of files automatically based on their creation date and time, but I want the format to be YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS_filename. I see there are date tags available, but I’m not sure how to combine them with the original file name in Advanced Renamer. Does anyone have a step-by-step example or a template I could use for this?

Hi Sophia,
It's really easy. Just load some files into ARen and choose one of the dates from the Modified Date or Created date. There are other dates available sometimes in metadata, but it's probably best if you can start off with one of these. Once you've decided, bring up a "New name" method (click the little green circle with a plus sign on the left side of the window and choose the New name method). In the New name field enter:
<Date Created:yyyy-mm-dd_hh-nn-ss>_<Name>
or
<Date Modified:yyyy-mm-dd_hh-nn-ss>_<Name>
Your screen should then look something like this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JYc3evUUVZ4MhRHNiYYXKVl4uvh LPLVK/view?usp=sharing
Check the "New Filename" preview column to make sure you get what you want, then press Start Batch. Don't forget you can always undo the batch if something is wrong.
Let us know if this gets you what you need...
Best,
DF
