Moving individual files into new folders
Hello,
Just for thought... say that I have 515 movie files all in one folder. Just 515 mkv, mp4, avi... files all jammed into one "E:/Movie" folder. But I need each of these files placed into separate folders of the same name. So "E:/Movies/Citizen Kane.avi" now moves into "E:/Movie/Citizen Kane/Citizen Kane.avi"
Is this possible with Advanced Renamer?

Yes - read the User Guide.

Yes I have read the User Guide. But I'm not a coder or script writer. I have looked into the Renaming -> "Move Method", and the Advanced Tagging -> "File Content" in an attempt to take the file name and create a folder of the same name. Then move that file into that newly created folder. But I don't see anywhere that I can create a folder or a path for the file to move into.
I think I'm trying to do a Batch -> Move I:\Movies\<File Content:1:50:I:\Movies\>
Where I have the path to my share drive. The File Content text string. The Position to begin that text string. The count of characters (50) in case of a longer file name. Then the path to create the folder in. I did not specify a Filename as I want that to be the same.
Can you please give me some direction or terminology of where to find what I need in the User Guide?

It should be obvious!
Batch mode: Move
Output folder: <Name>
Leave the Renaming method list empty.

Got it... and it works!
I'm not so smart. First of all, I was looking to preview the results in that big preview pane. I was thinking the files in the new folders would show up under the "Path" column. But I see now that you have to Start the Batch to actually see the results instead.
Secondly, I tend to overthink things, so I was heading towards parsing the name, but I still didn't see what I wanted to see in the preview pane.
Anyway, thank you for the guidance. I'm grooming a large library and was happy to register and contribute last week for such a useful project.
Thanks again...
