Rename files from phone (USB cable)

Hi, everyone. Basically, I want to rename files from my phone but it's a HUGE amount (+250gb) that I can't just transfer to my PC because it doesn't have any free space. When I click on "folders" to add new files, the USB device does not appear, only the local C: disk. When I go from "files", I can find the USB device (aka my phone) and find the files I want to add BUT! when I click to actually add the files they don't show up in the rename batch, in other words, the files are not added. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A52 and its USB settings are set to "Transferring Files / Android Auto". Is it an issue with my phone or is it the app that simply wasn't made for what I want it to do? Thank you to anyone who might want to help.
Edit: forgot to say my PC is Windows 11, currently

This seems to be a limitation of the APIs available to advancedrenamer as windows explorer *does* allow renaming files in that mode.

Edit to add: Microsoft's "PowerRename" tool also won't rename Android files over USB. I blame Microsoft for this issue. ;)

I haven't yet found a way via batch or powershell command.

But one possible workaround that you can research is to forgo the USB cable and instead link your phone via a WiFi network connection or as an FTP server. If you can map your phone's folder as a network drive on the PC, that *should* allow advancedrenamer to work. I haven't tried this and won't any time soon.

Hi Gio, Randy,

Gio, you *might* be able to remove the card in your phone and plug it into a card reader on your computer. Then you *might* be able to rename those files external to the phone. I've never tried it, so I can't exactly recommend it, but those card readers are cheaper than a new hard disk or SSD I'm thinking...
EDIT: If you have an SD card reader on your computer, like I do on mine, then you might need just an adapter for the microsd. Very inexpensive, like under five bucks. END EDIT

On the other hand, I'd personally be very nervous about futzing around with the card from my phone.

Just a thought, not really a recommendation. :)

Best,
DF
