Renamer Just Deleted ALL My Files!
I dropped a folder hierarchy into the app, no issues. I selected sub-folders too, no issues. So, there were no files in the window at all, only a list of the folders. I wanted it to remove the extra numbers from the beginning of the folder names up to the underscore.
I used Remove Pattern and gave it: *_
It started the batch and it renamed the folders ... AND DELETED ALL THE FILES IN THE FOLDERS!
The folders are all there; EMPTY!
ALL the files are gone. Not just in the trash, GONE!
Two weeks of work, ALL LOST! ... Hundreds of files!
Why did it even touch the files at all?!!!

Ouch!
Sorry for your loss.
1) Did you run Aren's "Undo batch" command?
2) You're not running daily backups? I highly recommend Macrium Reflect X, ASAP. Neither I nor Aren are associated with that product but it's awesome. (I'm also not associated with Aren either except for forum posting.)
3) What version of Aren are you using?
4) I'll try to replicate this if I can in the next few 24 hours or less.
My condolences,
Randy

I could not duplicate this no matter what I tried. See below.
A) What is your Aren version? And your OS version?
B) Did you ignore error(s) reading "Possibility of multiple files with the same name"?
C) Did you make sure that you can see hidden and system files in the "new" folders?
D) Did any of the folders or files move from one drive/share to a different one?
E) Anything encrypted or write-protected?
F) How many subfolders were involved?
Here's one of the attempts I tried (the most basic):
1) Created this tree:
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\00001_ThoseAbout 1\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\00002_ThoseAbout 2\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\00003_ThoseAbout 3\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\00004_ThoseAbout 4\Salute.txt
2) Ran Remove pattern: *_ in Aren
3) Result:
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\ThoseAbout 1\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\ThoseAbout 2\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\ThoseAbout 3\Salute.txt
C:\Temp\Still\Lambs to the s\ThoseAbout 4\Salute.txt
with no loss of files, folders, nor data. I tried a few other things, that all worked perfectly, but there's too many unknowns to cover every scenario blindly.

Advanced Renamer cannot delete files or folders added to the list. That is also why it won't overwrite files in a rename batch. I don't think the files are gone. I think they are hidden or located in a different place. But it is difficult to say without more information. I don't know how you have configured the batch.
Have you been able to undo the batch with the Undo Window?
I would also like to know if the batch is performed between two drives, if the files are located on a cloud storage drive, like Dropbox or OneDrive, or if the files are on a network storage drive.
