Version 4.16 has been released
The release of version 4.16 marks a point in time where all major features of version 3 are now available in the official version 4. It also marks a point in time where version 3 is now considered legacy. I have been working hard to add more features and improve existing functionality over the past year, and since I have so many ideas for new features, I will continue having focus on the development for a long time.
The large focus on this single project, also means I have to make the project a little more commercial. I don't show ads, I don't sell user data, I don't sell subscriptions, and I don't have large corporate sponsors - all my revenue is coming from simple license fees. Advanced Renamer will continue being free for home user for the average user, but heavy use will now require a license. No features will be taken away from the free version, but some limitations related to frequent and complex use will be added. There are no changes for those who already have a license for personal or commercial use and those who only use the software for lighter renaming tasks.
This small change in the licensing model ensures that I can continue to invest in the development of Advanced Renamer and completely over-engineer the simple task of renaming files.

Hi Kim,
You just continue to impress the heck out of me, buddy. I think you must sleep less than me; the difference is I'm mainly watching netflix when I'm awake. :)
I appreciate you showing us js folks the love. And I don't think I ever thanked you for making the log closable with the Esc key, that's very handy.
Ok, don't let me slow you down... just because you make the best renaming program doesn't mean you get to rest! :)
Best,
DF

"where all major features of version 3 are now available"
Please:
A) Restore the ability to set ModifiedDate and CreatedDate from a script step.
and/or
B) Allow us to set the Timestamp off a pattern in the *New* Filename.

Kim, Randy,
Both of those would be great to have. Also, I'd like to respectfully request that if you do those things, you also extend them to work on folders as well. That is, allow folders to get their timestamps from a date in the folder name. I'd prefer if it were in scripting, but in the Timestamp method would be great too, and more useful generally.
That would eliminate a step where I have to go to another program to set folder dates from text in the folder name.
Best,
DF

Yes changing the dates for folders would be sweet. I've been doing folder dates by hand like a [censored]. ;) Fortunately it's only an issue every once in a while. Whereas I do file dates every day.
