"Date Taken" property not reading properly

When sorting image files by the "Date Taken" value in the main dashboard, the system is improperly using the "Date Modified" although the original "Date Taken" value exists and can be viewed by reviewing the file properties window in Explorer. And, it is inconsistent, as other files with a new "Date Modified" value are displaying the correct "Date Taken" value. My workaround has been to retain the original name as the order, then hard-code the date in the new name.
