I have various types of audio files, such as ogg, opus, m4a. On these audio files the artist tag is working fine, but on the mp3 file the artist tag is matching with the lead performer tag. Is there a way to rename the lead performer tag to artist?

Hi Styb.
Same here.
In my mp3 files the <ExifTool:Artist> tag works fine but the <Artist> tag does not exist, it have been replaced by <Band> or <Lead performer>. In 3.95 version the <Audio Artist> tag work fine.

EDIT: I have convert some of my mp3 files to m4a and now the <Artist> tag work without any problem.

Hi Miguel,
Exactly, my audio files like ogg, opus, flac, m4a have the <Artist> tag, but this tag is missing for mp3 files because it is replaced by the <Lead Performer> tag.

(But on my ARen 3.95 portable, the artist tag is missing for all of them).

Hi Styb.
In the 3.95 version is <Audio Artist>.

Yes, you are right, sorry for my mistake, but on my side the <Audio Artist> tag in ARen 3.95 does not work for all types of audio files.

I can see why this is confusing. When reading the ID3 metadata of a MP3 file, it will contain a number of tags. One of those tags is called TPE1, which is named Artist in ExifTool, but for Advanced Renamer 4, I have used the name from the spec instead: Lead performer

I can add an alias, so that Artist will look into the Lead Performer field. That way it will work the same as in previous versions.

There will be implementation differences when comparing version 3, version 4, and ExifTool.

Hi Kim,

The problem occurs when you are trying to rename files with differents extensions.
For example mp3 and m4a. The mp3 format recognizes the tag <Lead performer> but m4a not.
Yes i know that this can be fixed using <Lead performer><Artist> together, but perhaps, maybe it can be confusing
