Is there a way to replace control chrs in a file name?

It would seem that somehow with Mac users some files have got control chrs in them things like \x03 eg.. "FileName\x03ToRename.jpg" Is there a way to search a file name for these hidden chrs? We are trying to use RCLONE to sync a dir with Google drive and it is not working because Google Drive does not support these control chrs. ANy help would be really appreciated!
