How to copy or move files to different folder

Case: I want to copy or move files and want to use metadata information to construct the new folder structure

This is how you setup the program to copy or move files:

  1. Add the files to the list.
  2. If there are methods in the method list click the Clear Methods toolbar button.
  3. Set the Batch Mode to "Copy" or "Move" in the of the window.
  4. When batch mode is changed to copy or move, the field "Output folder" appears
  5. Set the "Output folder" to the folder where you want to move or copy the files. You can use tags to dynamically generate subfolders. For example:
C:\Sorted\<Img Year>\<Img Month> - organizes images files by year and month
D:\Music\<Album> - places music files into folders named after their album
To see a full list of available tags, click the "Insert Tag" button.
  6. Verify the output paths in the list and click Start Batch.
  7. There should be a column called "New Path". If not visible, click the Columns button in the menu.
The target folder does not need to exist in advance. The program will automatically create any folders that do not exist in the specified path. If you use tags to create subfolders, Advanced Renamer will generate the entire folder structure as needed.
